Testimonials

Xin Yi Chen
Xin Yi ChenAssumption College Catholic High School
The UNO program was an incredibly rewarding experience that provided me with unique insights into international affairs and the workings of the United Nations. Weekly sessions with UN professionals, such as those from the World Bank and UNHCR, allowed me to learn about their career journeys, the job application process, and practical advice for aspiring global leaders. One highlight was working on my SDG report, where I explored housing hardships in Beijing—a project that honed my research, communication, and presentation skills. Through engaging discussions with peers and speakers worldwide, I developed a broader international perspective and strengthened transferable skills. I highly recommend this program to students interested in global leadership and the UN—it’s an opportunity not to be missed!

The classes were incredibly inspiring and eye-opening. Meeting distinguished leaders and politicians gave me insights into both international and domestic affairs, while also showing me how to connect my own experiences to my future goals. My favorite part was listening to the speakers share their experiences and explain their work. It was engaging, thought-provoking, and an opportunity I will always treasure.

Our weekly lessons were both educational and eye-opening. We worked on team presentations and individual research projects, and we also had the privilege of hearing from a guest speaker from the UNHCR communications department in one of our sessions. Her lecture about the role of UNHCR and the challenges faced by refugees worldwide was deeply impactful. I learned about the reasons people are forced to leave their countries, the staggering length of time refugees often remain displaced—an average of 18 years—and how organizations like UNHCR provide critical support. It was surprising to learn that 73% of refugees are hosted in neighboring countries rather than developed nations. This completely changed my perspective on global refugee dynamics. My favorite part of that week was understanding the importance of UNHCR’s work in improving the lives of so many people around the world.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything You Need To Know

The World Federation of United Nations Association (WFUNA) connects the UN member countries with their citizens through education and training to promote global citizenship. WFUNA is a global non-profit organization that aims to promote student engagement in international relations.
The United Nations Online (UNO) program and the United Nations Advanced Training (UNAT) program differ significantly in format, accessibility, duration, and structure. UNO is conducted entirely online, allowing students from all over the world to participate and access exclusive program content. In contrast, UNAT is an in-person program held in New York, where students are hosted at the United Nations headquarters. Another key difference is the duration and structure of the programs. UNO spans 10 weeks throughout the semester, offering a comprehensive and extended engagement with United Nations topics and activities. On the other hand, UNAT is a 7-day intensive program that provides a concentrated experience, immersing students in United Nations activities over the course of one week.
Regrettably, scholarships are not currently offered by FIET or Stanley Prep for this program. However, we recognize and reward excellence.

If you demonstrate exceptional performance and fall within the top 20% of the session, you will be honored with: Letter of Recommendation: A personalized commendation recognizing your outstanding achievements. Certificate of Recognition: Endorsed by U.S. elected officials and esteemed members of WFUNA, affirming your commitment to excellence.

We believe in celebrating success and acknowledging the dedication of our participants. Your excellence deserves to be recognized, and these accolades serve as a testament to your remarkable achievements.
Individuals interested in applying for the summer GL programs may do so by submitting an application on the Stanley Prep website at least 90 days prior to the start date of the desired program.
Attendance is vital for successful completion of the UNO course. If you miss more than 30 minutes of the training without a valid excuse three times, or if you miss two complete sessions during the 10-week program, you will be classified as truant.

To receive the Certificate of Completion, consistent attendance is key. Truancy may result in the inability to obtain this prestigious acknowledgment of your dedication and successful participation in the program.

We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise. If you anticipate schedule conflicts or encounter challenges attending classes, please communicate with us in advance. We are here to support you and find solutions that ensure a positive and enriching learning experience for all participants.
